Charity Eco-Audits

3 Acorns Eco-Audits have wide experience of eco-audits in the charity sector.

Our founder Donnachadh McCarthy, worked in the charity and not-for-profit sector for over a decade, which gives us an understanding of how the sector works and the special challenges that charities face when working to improve their environmental performance.

3 Acorns Eco-audits was commissioned in 2005 to carry out an eco-audit of 12 charities in the non-environmental sector in London, including the sector's three major umbrella bodies ACEVO, ACF and NCVO.

The project funded by the City Bridge Trust won a gold Green Apple Award in November 2007 at the awards ceremony at the House of Commons.

3 Acorns Eco-audits won the 2008 National Energy Efficiency Award for its eco-auditing project for the Corporation of London's City Bridge Trust.

Our charity eco-audits have ranged from sheltered housing units to community transport charities to a book-service for the blind. Donnachadh worked for 7 years in the sector for The Lord’s Taverners children’s charity and was a charity trustee for 12 years.

He is also the founder of the charity National Carbon Footprint Day

This helps us understand the special issues that face the charitable sector and we believe passionately that a well run charity also means an environmentally responsible charity.
