Our founder Donnachadh McCarthy, worked in the charity and not-for-profit sector
for over a decade, which gives us an understanding of how the sector works and the
special challenges that charities face when working to improve their environmental
3 Acorns Eco-audits was commissioned in 2005 to carry out an eco-audit of 12 charities
in the non-environmental sector in London, including the sector's three major umbrella
bodies ACEVO, ACF and NCVO.
The project funded by the City Bridge Trust won a gold Green Apple Award in November
2007 at the awards ceremony at the House of Commons.
3 Acorns Eco-audits won the 2008 National Energy Efficiency Award for its eco-auditing
project for the Corporation of London's City Bridge Trust.
Our charity eco-audits have ranged from sheltered housing units to community transport
charities to a book-service for the blind. Donnachadh worked for 7 years in the sector
for The Lord’s Taverners children’s charity and was a charity trustee for 12 years.
